Looks better than I expected and this could be a purchase but not sold completely yet. A lot depends on price tag.

Given how many similarites there are between the 1290 SDR and 1190 ADV I can't say I'm surprised they're doing this!

Anyhow it still appears to have the 1290 motor ( or at least the sticker)

Comrade: How could KTM possibly afford to keep producing two different motors - they're not Honda or Suzuki? Surely they'd have to think about the benefits of rationalising their engine manufacturing processes and keeping the costs down.

Makes sense, same block with revised cams etc for each application.

Well I think its running a 17 Inch front wheel , a lot more plastic and bigger tank so guessed :)
I still regularly see 230 miles to a tank from my 1190 , after which time I wanna get off anyway :shock:

the scary thing will be the price :?

Have a look through the part numbers.

Parts which are common between the 1290 SDR and 1190 ADV include:
Engine casings, some valvegear parts;
Entire contents of gearbox except output shaft;
The main structural elements of the frame are nigh on identical;
Wiring loom and electrical components are extensively shared; obviously with some differences in programming.

I'm sure there's more but that's all I've come across so far.

Makes it obvious how straightforward a 1290 ADV would be to create!

I just had an amazing trip in Europe this week.
I drove from Norway last saturday, and came home yesterday.
Went through Denmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. I drove some mountain passes in the Alps. The bike was awesome up theese passes! :twisted:

I drove 3955km in 6 days. I had one day off while i rested in Riva Del Garda North in the Gardasea in Italy.
The bike was 100% all the way. No troubble at all. Just lubricated the Chain. No use of oil or coolant. I had some oil With me for the trip, cause i thought it might use some at high speed for many hours at Autobahn in Germany, but no! :)

Avrage speed on the autobahn was 160-170kmt @ speedo , and i got 230km before i stopped for fueling. The fuelrange was showing 80km when i stopped, but better safe than sorry. You get a ticket for running out of gas on the autobahn :P

Total milage on the bike is now 13600KM, and next service is coming up soon.

LOL scamb. Looks like you're f'd if you really do live there AND live to grind pegs!

But, there are two sides to every coin, the guy who lives to make top speed runs will think he died and went to heaven when he sees that road.

Just did a Germany /Austria trip on the 1190 adventure was really pleased with how well the bike performs . Took it around the Nurburgring was a mad place .

Also did a KTM factory tour they had the 1290 super adventure there but would not let us view it . I look forward to this bike but in reality the current 1190 is a hell of a bike .

I actually tried but their not interested in fact they are quite oblivious to any problems .We had a discussion with the guy that takes care of Asia and Australia and his words are we only know of supply issues .

Did you see anything in the factory that looked like an 1190/1290 SMT?
If they make one and it has the Adventure swingarm instead of the wobbly water cooled SSSA, count me in.

Look at the KTM logo, it's reversed... The video is a mirror image.
