Seems to be limited info coming out on delivery of this bike. The GT still has not made it on the Canada and U.S. KTM websites. Know of a Guy in Austria who just ordered a GT, but was told delivery would not be until March 2016. Anyone else hear of delivery dates in their part of the world?

Talked to my local KTM dealer and they were told by KTM USA that they are not expecting to get any SDGT bikes until Fall 2016. The dealer already has deposit for one bike as well.

Interesting. I have talked to a couple of dealers here in western Canada. One says that KTM Canada has not heard, the other says the GT will be here in spring 2016? I did watch a video from EICMA with the KTM international HR guy saying "the GT will be in all markets by March 2016". But have read some articles saying the GT will be here in spring and some saying in the fall? WTF?

Jeez guys, get a grip... if you don't like it, don't buy it. Simples.
You can ride around in smug mode on Your SDRs, safe in the knowledge that you are riding the true Duke DNA, unlike these other guys on the same bike with a screen on it...
A couple of years ago I looked at getting an SMT as a 2-up bike, rode one and quite liked it save for the fact that it didn't have the full-fat 990 SD engine spec. Chatting to the dealer afterwards (Premier Bikes, Didcot, UK) they said that the 990 SMT wasn't due for an upgrade as it would be superseded by a 1290 variant - this was in the middle of 2013. Personally I don't mind it, but I'm surprised that they haven't called it the SMT to differentiate it from the SDR - maybe it's closer mechanically to the SDR than the SMT was to the 990 SD?

So, the big question is????

Do we allow GT owners to join or are we going to remain elitist?

It is a Superduke after all.

Good point Scamb, I currently have a 990SD, and a Triumph Tiger 800 for more sensible activity with a pillion (she refuses to get on the back of the SD) and after learning about the GT I figured that there was one bike that could fulfill the roles of two that I currently have (and need to keep both taxed, tested and insured all the time). This spring I will be getting a couple of test rides on a GT, both two-up and solo to see how well it does both jobs, and if i like it I'll sell the 990 and the Tiger and go for the GT.
I'm only a relative new kid without too many posts and haven't been here very long (and I'm still learning all about the new terminology such as SAS, Flies, Motohooligan airboxes and the like  ), but will the saloon doors be closed to me if I turn to the GT side? :(

I have no problem with a GT sub forum.

I have also considered selling my 990 and F800 for the GT..? I'll see what the reviews are first. I think if I sell the 990 and F800 I will get the GT and a EXC500 :D .

I have heard the North American release for the GT is the end of June, with 2017 bikes available fall 2016.

Yeah just a small update: http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-new ... 30866.html

And the new 890: http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-new ... 30865.html

P twin, yawn.
so now we have the:
Duke 390, 690, 890, 1290.
Adeventure 1050, 1190 and 1290.

Would love it if they had just kept it 390, 690, 990, 1290 for the Duke line up and given us either a 390 street legal trail bike, 690 or 890 Adventure.

Yep, just saw it. Wonder what kind of mechanical/electrical updates it's going to have? Been considering buying one but will now probably wait and see what other improvements the 17 has up its sleeve.

KTM hosted the 1290 GT world release in Spain. They brought what looked to be as many as 20 new bikes or more for journalists and dealers etc. to ride. Anyone know what the did or typically do with those bikes?

A friend who used to work for a test magazine now works for Yamaha. From what he told me the bikes are available to corporate employees first, then it trickles down to dealers as demo bikes.
