I have R&G's on there now. Not sure what I'm gonna go with now. Thinking about something that mounts the plate underneath more. How bout you?

I'm currently using the one from Evotech, but it won't look good without the signal pods. I was thinking about going with the R&G. I'd rather go with something underneath, but I don't think I can get anything under there because of my Austin Racing Hi Rise pipe.

I just received mine today. Looks like it didn't come with any bolts/screws. Unfortunately my rear tail light just broke last week (standard broken bolt problem that many have had). Didn't bother trying to fix it since I knew this would be shipping a few days later. Anyone know what I should use to mount this thing?

Same as anyone else, google, ring KTM, phone a friend, take one of the old screws out if possible to find out what screws they are

2 mins =

Part number - 0081050141 x2 if necessary

Look like this apparently (never removed my taillight so now I know)

Hehe, thanks for the links! Never seen that website before, but will be using it in the future.

I gotta say though- I'm not too thrilled with the idea of putting the same failure prone self tapping screw in this expensive new tail light. I was hoping it would ship with a sturdier replacement. When they snap off inside the light's socket it pretty much kills the whole thing. I saw some fixes on here, but it required a lathe, and other equipment that I don't have access to.

If anyone has mounted theirs already please let me know what you used, and if you've experienced the signature KTM tail light failure prior to this.

Yeah I figured they would be a typical small metric bolt, not a dodgy looking wood screw???

It has been my experience that it is not the screws that fail on the tail light but the plastic spigots crack then break away from the main body of the taillight. I have fixed a few now and have never seen the screws themselves fail. The new spigots you speak of were a quick little machining job that kevxtx organised - he may still have some available but i don't know for sure!
The technical reason the spigots fail is because the original screw hole is too small in diameter and the screws are too long for the depth of the hole. The result is the plastic spigot is stressed on its inside diameter by the outside diameter of the screw and the blind end of the screw hole is also stressed by the screw being done up too tight and loading the blind end of the hole. Put both these factors together along with the plastic material and add a little vibration and you see the result of a broken tail light.
You could drill and tap a new thread inside the new light and just use a metric screw - if done properly it will be a permanent fix for your problem.
I can't tell you if your new light will break if you use the original screws because I don't know what materials they have used, nor do i know the hole diameters and the hole depth in relation to the mounting screws.

Just got my Integrated Tail Light from Custom LED. I'm really happy with it. Form and fit are identical to stock. The color is clear, not smoke like stock, but still looks good on the bike. The connectors provided are like the OEM connectors and it's truly plug and play. The lights are surprisingly bright. You WILL be seen from behind with one of these.

Here is what it looks like out of the box.

There's a bit of extra wiring to bundle up if you have a tail tidy. The gray wire is designed to be used with a switch to allow for programming the light I didn't buy one and I'm not sure if I will.

Here's a quick walk around video that gives a better idea of what it looks like on the bike. Removing the turn signals leaves open holes in the Evo Tech tail tidy. Still looking for options here.

Here is what the basic turn signal and brake lighting looks like. The colors are a bit washed out in the video, but they are very bright yellow and red in person.

I also installed mine this week. User abc was correct -- the OEM screws had not failed, it was the OEM plastic in the tail light itself. I called custom led just to confirm that I should use the KTM provided screws. Install was super easy (which is saying something coming from me). It fits perfectly, works as advertised, isn't throwing me any error codes, and it's BRIGHT.

It was the perfect solution for me, because the previous owner fit a tail tidy, and I fit the power parts luggage, which had left me with no rear blinkers for the past 3 months. No more! Thanks Custom LED!

Here is a quick shitty video I took of it in action

mmmm agree, if only the did a smoked lens like stock, here in Australia we are meant to have the turn signals a minimum of 180mm apart at the rear, so technically a bit on the not so legal side, lots of people here run integrated taillights, just gives them an excuse to pull you over though
I would probably try one out but on my black 1290 the clear looking lens would look ridiculous I think

Same thing here in California. Signals are meant to be 9 inches separated, or 228mm.

I don't think the clear will look too bad on a black bike and Sully's solution of putting vinyl on the top is pretty good. I'd like to keep the stock rear signals and have the integrated as well. Should be doable with a little wiring work I think.
