1290 alarm

Postby alpine* » Sun Jul 23, 2017 8:02 pm

Hi,
I fitted the defcom-t alarm with the seat reed switch and magnet. I found there are positions already for the switch and magnet on the seat moulding and lock frame but is there a correct location for the actual alarm unit itself. ATM it's just laying in the tool area.
Cheers

I'm debating buying the alarm as well so I'd like to know. Have you got any pics of the reed switch position and wiring ? I'm thinking alarm fits under the cross section in the tail unit. But could be wrong

Yes it fits in under the cross piece, on the battery side. It clips into the plastic underneath it. I fitted mine by removing the ecu cover under the tool kit and sliding it in.

See image, the magnet fits on the corresponding screw holes to the switch under the seat (be sure to use the correct side of the seat)

I bought mine frome here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meta-Defcom-T ... 0905690517 the reed switch and magnet are included although I did have to file some corners from the magnet bakelite moulding to get it to fit nicely in the seat depression.
