I've been experimenting with something similar myself. I can get 90 octane without, and 91 with ethanol (I'm at high elevation and 93 isn't available). Bike seems to run well with both, maybe a little stronger ethanol-free?, but gets better fuel mileage (by about 3-4 mpg) when running the higher octane with ethanol. But I still run a few tanks a month ethanol free (kind of like eating fiber) My $.02

I vote neither. Have you tried the pure-gas app to find good fuel in your area? You might try fuelling at marinas that provide high octane alcohol-free gas.

here in BC Canada I use Chevron ethanol free 94 octane. I try to keep ethanol out of the bike. The pump had its own hose as well so not gallon of another fuel.
I have an Openflash tablet and they recommended using a premium fuel as that was what their map is based on.

I do have the pure-gas app and I can mostly get 89 octane around here, or I can travel 5+ miles to get 90 non-ethanol.

I would if I could. That's the reason for my dilemma.

Neither. I mainly use only 95 RON here in Australia (as per the manual). 91 or 98 RON if that isn't available.
BTW, I've tested 98, 95 and 91 RON several times on short and long trips and there is not discernible difference in mileage.
