990 Idle Stepper sweep range help

Postby Adrock990r » Sun Jun 17, 2018 2:04 am

Hey guys, I am looking for some information on the voltage sweep range of the Idle Stepper on the 990's. I know the ecu adapts, etc, etc and i know all about the TPS, just the stepper points is what i actually need so i can get the info on its correct sweep range . Every search i have tried on here and Google is either about various Triumph models or just not definitive at all regarding KTM models with a lot of info being obviously just guess work.
For example, if you record .60 volts on the primary TPS with engine warm and closed throttle (idle conditions if it was running) , what voltages should you be seeing at fully retracted and fully extended stepper if you commit the stepper to do a sweep using Tuneecu ?? I guess fully retracted would be the same as the min voltage you see if you fully close the throttle using the "adjust throttle cable" function.

Also, with the throttle committed to fully closed i have just on 0.5mm gap between the stepper arm and the roller that it pushes against on the Throttle body. I have no idea even if that is correct and if not then does anyone know what gap we should see. I know it's been discussed at length over the years but i could not find any posts that actually ended with any real positive closure. My readings are 0.58v when committed to fully closed, 0.60v at warm idle with the idle stepper sweep showing 0.58 to around 0.68-69.
This isn't related to any issues with my SDR, more about wanting to know more, etc instead of just assuming. And yes i know KTM have some info like the old 0.56 to 0.64 when fully retracted shite but really that tells us nothing. I would really appreciate someones input on this if they have the answers or even if someone has 20 mins spare some time to hook a 990 up to Tuneecu and commit the stepper to a couple of tests and write it all down. No doubt it would be in the interest of many people and not just me. Oh and this isn't really about TPS values, just the stepper and it's so dang quiet here so pls don't flame me just for the heck of it.

Cheers folks,
Adam.

Rebuild manual:

Page 7-40- idle speed control motor=same as 2nd throttle valve servomotor

Page 7-56;
STHADLL Min. initialization voltage 2nd throttle sensor 0.518 1.2 volts Normal: approx.1V; Error: 0.518V
STHADHH Max. initialization voltage 2nd throttle sensor 3.799 4.5 volts Normal: approx.4.3V; Error: 3.799V

So same for idle speed control motor?

Cheers mate but unfortunately not the same. Just poor translated definitions. Those figures are also just when the 2nd tps will throw an error code.
