Motohooligan or rottweiler airbox wanted

Postby bic_bicknell » Thu Nov 08, 2018 7:54 am

Hello all you 990 peeps.

I have just bought a Suzuki TL1000R (another story) from a guy who was selling in order to buy a nice '06 SD990. The one he's keen on has K&Ns fitted directly to the throttle bodies with no airbox at all. I've never heard of this being done because presumably you'd loose the velocity stacks and all the associated resonant frequency stuff. Anyone have an opinion on this?

Anyway, I said I'd ask on here if anyone had a Motohooligan or Rotweiller airbox for sale so at least he'd have the option to fit one if necessary.

Let me know and I'll put him in touch.

Probably similar to this viewtopic.php?f=5&t=19698&p=235704&hilit=+ramair#p235704 with filter(s) pulled over stacks - ran #1 like this for many miles without issue.

He could also consider a baseplate from gefrato from the advforum, combined with an itg filter: cheaper then a rotty or motobox but with same results.

A TL1000R - I almost bought a highly modified one of these that had been successfully campaigned in the hill climbing arena. Gixer front end and a LOT of other mods. There is a lot you can do apparently including replacing the odd rear suspension.

Hope you have fun if its a project.

I've got a Rottweiler sitting on the shelf along with a breather filter and some stacks (possibly RC8 ones).

Not looked into how much it's worth, but if a sensible offer was made they can have it.
05/06 SD, too raw for the journos!
