Akrapovic quiet inserts

Postby Motogoon » Tue Aug 29, 2017 4:37 am

So my 990 is just too loud, anyone with some quiet inserts they want to sell me and are willing to post to New Zealand (I know they will be fairly pricey to post but that's ok)

Have included a pic, I guess they're evo's? Hole is 43mm. Cheers!

Or does anyone know the part number? I can't seem to find it, local ktm dealer couldn't find it either.

I doubt they are available at all. Akrapovic does not sell any KTM exhaust parts. They are only available through KTM dealers and I have never seen the quiet inserts sold separately.

Yeh I have found quite a few options online with a 43mm outer diameter for various Akra models but I'm not sure if the angle or small opening is right.

I'd was thinking of getting some "just in case" but got pulled over by an unmarked cop car 2 months ago (for lane filtering @ 40kmh) and they didn't say anything about the exhaust.
Officer had a good look over the bike too. He mentioned that the side reflectors were missing and I thought he was going to try and defect it. Luckily he wasn't too bad and just got a minor infringement.
Bike is clean and tidy and was only concerned about the exhaust..... it does seem loud sometimes ;)

Yeh I like the sound but I'm not a fan of having to put earplugs in just to shoot out for a quick ride in to town or something. Plus I don't really like to muck around following cars so it can be a bit obnoxious blasting past their window full throttle!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm pretty sure my neighbours aren't too impressed with me leaving home at 06:00 am every weekday morning ;). I do keep the revs down as much as possible though.
But... at least most drivers notice I'm behind them :) - except the totally ignorant drivers, off-right-centre of the lane with headphones on (they get a bonus blip when I go past)
