That would be my choice, after an SD, but I can't own an SM ... I would end up in jail in the first week.

I do also like those Husaberg FS 570s ... Don't have one, again because of that jail thing ...

That is a rare find, well done.

I bought a 690R new in 2011 and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Here it is the day I collected it.

My mate has a 690SMCR with a few trick parts on but my 690R had a hell of a lot more go than his. I went everywhere on it too.

I told everyone that I would never sell it as I enjoyed it so much and it was so rare but I had it in for a service at the dealers in June 2014 and they lent me their 1290 Superduke and.............. well let's just say I couldn't resist and 10 days later the 690R was no more and in its place was this:

I do regret selling my 690R and I still keep an eye out for one now and then as I would definitely have another but for now I will just have to make do with MASSIVE POWER, SWEET HANDLING and HUUUUUGE WHEELIES

Enjoy it pal.

Thanks a lot, guys. :D

My determination paid off "In Spades".
Need to change the OE 5yr old Michelin Pilot Powers though, (Too slippery on the edge  )

Although liking to hear about the 1290. Think its too large for my purposes.
Great bike all the same.

Hypermoto :?:

How effective, is the extended screen?

The extended screen makes all the difference and I don't think it looks out of place either.

I still have it, I was planning to stick it on Ebay but PM me with an offer if you're interested.

I also have a Power Parts "Comfort Gel Seat" and a service kit (oil & filters etc).

Incidentally I replaced my tyres with Dunlop Sportmax Mutants and they are excellent for all terrain, a big improvement but you will get less miles from them. For me it was worth the trade-off as it is such a light and flickable thing in the twisties.

SWEET! I may add a 2015 690 Duke next to the 1290 SDR.

Well! Years go by and decisions get made.

Near retirement now and requiring a F**king Awesome bike.

After a test ride. Smitten is the only thing I can say, about the 2017 SD.

2004 I test rode every Vtwin Sportsbike on the planet. I wasn't so keen on any of them. So put my money down on a familiar manufacturer to me, KTM to come up with the goods.

Didn't happen. 990 SD was a gamble. It was a Vtwin but not the required torque. With shit fueling. 2007 was great But in 2008?

Even the SDR was nonsense. Not a convincing argument to haul us now aging bikers, from our beloved superbikes

Having reverted back to the fun days of lane carving light lesser cylinder bikes. (And still loving it ). Having resorted to the MK III Duke 690 R :D

Now time to try the latest incarnations from KTMs drawing boards.

Soo.. Now to hopefully have NIRVANA to me . My Specified 1290 Superduke R is on the way.

Can't wait to bore you to tears. About how orange mine is and how it is the most streetable streetbike on the street.(It is  )
