KTM specials

Postby nampus » Tue Oct 11, 2011 6:43 pm

After stumbling across this in the Colonel's topic about his monster:
Image
and this afternoon discovering this in a dutch bike mag:
Image

I decided it was time for a ktm specials topic. So if you've got some nice pics (and info) of a nice KTM special: please share it with us.

The orange one is a bike made by Roland Sands, I've seen it a couple times in bike mags here in Holland, in short it's a 525 EXC which was customized by famous bike builder Roland Sands. Some pics:
Image (the blonde hotty is the owner btw :D )

The grey one is from Swiss bike builder Emil Weber. It's a 530EXC, stock suspension revalved reshimmed, leovince silencer combined with superduke headers, rizoma rearsets, lsl clip-ons, harley headlight, a company called Artek did the seat and the tank, wheels are forged marchesini's.
I prefer this over the orange one, the only thing that's missing is the spoked wheels from the Orange one.

It's for sale for as little as 24,500 euro

Some other specials I came across:
Jesse Rooke superduke special:

and another one:

Belgian naked RC8:

Don't really like this one, I like the idea of a naked rc8, but the big radiator makes it pretty hard to do a nice clean naked bike.

Anyone else found some nice specials?

I know that track (RSD 530) - looks like the SOW "skidpad". :D

Maybe this should be stickied as "KTM Cafe".

Not really my cup of tea, but looks pretty well made.
Do you have more info on it? Where's the engine from? Who built it?

Great thread - very timely... I assume you all saw this one from Jesse Rooke.

Would love to see one like this with a black frame and less blingy wheels and swing arm..

It's in my openingpost :) but you are right about the bling wheels and the frame. Less would definetely be more in this case.

That's a pretty nice triple! Always like the arrow underslung exhaust on those things. Million times better than the original ones under the seat.

I like the red single cylinder one best.

The Rooke one has been featured to death by now but is a very noteworthy example.

The silver one is shite. Really lacks style and character.

Funny that people chose a single Enduro bike to turn into a cruiser or cafe racer innit?

Not as much dosh burned as on most of the garage queens posted here, but I kinda liked the crude qualities of this: http://thebullitt.blogspot.com/2012/04/ ... -cafe.html

Sorry not an LC8 but this one was in some ways significant in regards to the (name) Super Duke when it was done back in 1996. One of if not the first "mod'ed" Duke's.
Duke I "First Edition"
660 motor
Dual 320 mm front discs
Brembo forged rr calipers
Brembo radial pull front master cylinder
shortened front and rear suspension
remote hydraulic rear shock spring adjuster
Michelin race compound tyres
Carbon fibre swingarm sub-fender
aluminium subframe
No air box
K&N air filter with an oval bore 37/41mm carburetor
Carbon fibre rear splash guard with voltage regulator/rectifier, capacitor, relays, electrics, etc., mounted on it.
Natural look but special heat dissipating coating on the radiators (radiators were usually black painted back then)
Chrome plated aluminium swingarm
Aluminium side stand
Original Internal disc Supertrapp polished stainless steel-2 into 1 exhaust
Dupont "Chromabase" Teal paint with matching graphics, embroider seat emblem, and 660cc callouts
A bunch of other insignificant minor details.........built for Cycle World Magazine back in '96 and called........Super Duke
