Lowering a Duke IV

Postby bigtree » Thu Jan 09, 2014 9:41 am

Hi,
Just bought a Duke IV and want to lower it so the wife can ride it,been looking at these items,
http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo.aspx ... er3url=MFW
http://www.mizu-france.com/epages/Mizu. ... epuis_2012

The first one is the cup for extending the spring while the second shortens the shock, can't get my head around quite how either will work without using both.If I use the cup that just reduces tension on the spring making it sag more, while the other will reduce height but will that not make the spring harder and need to back off the spring to compensate.Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Another way to make the bike easer for shorter people to ride is to modify the seat.
Narrow the seat towards the front of the bike so your legs don't have to be spread so far apart.
That will allow her legs to stretch out straight-er.
She might have to scoot forward to hit the sweet spot at stops, but she will still have a wide seat back farther for her b-hind while riding.
