RC 390 and Duke 390 in U.S. in Spring

Postby soarsore » Sun Nov 16, 2014 5:34 am

A bit of good news for the States.

Here is the press release from KTM:

Murrieta, CA – KTM North America, Inc. is excited to announce three new models to the 2015 street line-up, including the 390 Duke, RC 390 and the 1290 Super Adventure.

The 390 Duke is an expansion to the Duke line that already includes the 1290 Super Duke R and 690 Duke. The Austrian manufacturer pulled out all stops on this state-of-the-art, liquid-cooled 4-stroke engine from the Bosch electronic fuel-injection system to the four-valve cylinder head with DLC-coated finger followers. These engine components all combine maximum power with impressive refinement and reliability. WP suspension components as well as a top quality ABS braking system by Brembo ensure precision and full control for a retail price of $4,999.

The new KTM RC 390 captures the thrill of Moto3 racing and translates it into a nimble street-legal bike. The compact 375cc single-cylinder 4-stroke motor delivers 44 HP and an impressively high power to weight ratio. Exceptional braking performance and a lightweight chassis combine to deliver unmatched control and agility. This fully-faired race machine comes with a trellis frame, WP upside-down 43mm front forks. LED lighting, ABS, lightweight cast aluminium swingarm, and light aluminium wheels to make it a class-leading performer. This unit will retail at an exceptional value of $5,499.

According to the guys at Triumph Seattle, these bikes are already on their way to the shop floor. Can't wait to see that RC390 at the races...

The US is a little behind the rest of the world for a change.
The Bride has had her 390 duke for 12 months now. Thing is a hoot to ride, extremely light and revvy.
Price wise it is almost comparible to here, A$6k ride away.

The "cup" bikes are detuned to something like 38hp,with what KTM says has a "sealed" engine,,,,where the road going version has 44 stock hp,,,,,,I think I want the later,,,airbox, cam, pipe, piston,,,around 55hp,,,

All the 2015 models in Oz are black as opposed to the previous years white.

Again this appears to be an domestic India only problem. The bride has done 9000 km on hers and it is holding up really well. Just fitted an Evotech tail tidy to it yesterday and looks even better.
Like most she is now longing for more power so could be on it's way soon to make way for a MV 675 Brutale. If only she had longer legs I would hand down the 990 to her.
