Relpaced plates in Suter clutch in 45 minutes

I just changed the friction plates in my Suter clutch, only took about 45 minutes, easy. Layed the bike down on its side to avoid any oil loss, off with the cover and counted off the old plates and on with the new ones careful to place the first and last with the different plates as specified in KTM parts list.

Only thing to watch is the push rod works its way out with the pressure of fluid and so when you get to reinstall the front it doesn't seem to want to go on. You have to push the rod back in - you can feel it pushing the fluid and the piston in the slave cylinder back as well. Everything seems fine but can't test ride it today due to Kids and weather.

Nice one Bic. I had mine on her side yesterday as well. Had the whole of the side of the engine off though as the gasket was leaking (I hope) They do look slightly odd lying on their sides.

You don't need to lie the bike down when opening the clutch cover, just on the side stand is fine you won't lose any oil.

Is that right?!! The number of times I've had that cover off and thought I needed to lay it fully over. Just hate that moment when you crack a casing and nothing happens for about a second and then three litres of oil pours out onto the floor.

Millar is right! Side stand is sufficient.
