Stock peg removal

Postby Noizy Child » Tue Feb 23, 2016 3:49 am

Ok, So I just ordered the Motohooligan knurled pegs for my 1290.

Problem is, I'm having a tough time removing the stockers.

Is it uncommon to feel the need to have to knock the pin out with a mallet or something?

That thing won't budge.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

D

If he fronts are anything like the rears, then it is a knurled pin.
I used a C clamp and socket to push them out.
Bent the C clamp (They are tight )
Put a socket over the head of the pin, load up the clamp, and give it a good rap with the hammer.
It will pop out.
Going back in is way easier, especially if you get the knurl lined up exactly as it was. (Socket on the other side)
Little WD40 doesn't hurt either.

PB blaster or Maxima Multi-Purpose Penetrant Lube should make the job easier as well.

The 990 pegs we're a bit of a pain to hammer the pins out.

I bought new pegs last summer as l had worn through the rubber... The old ones are a pig to get out and I put the new ones somewhere in the house, and obviously the wife has tidied them away somewhere. I promise to fit them this year :|
