Tune ECU driving me up the wall

Postby Reaper » Sun Oct 30, 2016 5:36 pm

I can't get it to connect at all. Removed the software and downloaded it again. Downloaded the driver and made sure it's the one being used when the cables plugged in. Went through the order of connecting things go it says and tried a few different ways but it just won't connect.

Anyone got any ideas on how I can sort this? Need to stop the FI light flashing

Mine seems different everytime I connect it to the bike. Some times it works if I connect the cable to the laptop then the bike then start the program then turn the bike on. Some times its the reverse order. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Are you loading the FTDI driver ?
Also are you following the setup guide on TuneECU website ?
Have you got the ignition on when trying to connect ?
I also seem to remember that I had to drop the speed of the inteface down abit but it was a few years ago that I set this up so can't really remember specifics.

Are you running on laptop ? If so try with laptop connected to mains; power saving on some laptops has been known to cause issues with USB.
Also, not sure how good your bike battery is but maybe worth trying with charger plugged in as well; just to eliminate low voltage etc
If that doesn't work you could try an older / newer version of tuneECU software.
If you can't test on another KTM you could plug the cable into a car (older car but not pre ODBII) just to check if cable is working OK. You would need to find some ODBII sofware for this.

Cheers for the tips, laptop was plugged into mains and the bike battery is fully charged and on a powermate.

Im getting the picture I've not missed anything stupid and that it must be a dodgey cable

Yes - sounds like cable...

You seem to have tried everything and I'm sure you would have got something out of it by now.
