Im 75kg... 165lbs

The bike is 16F 41R .... 6th gear at 9800rpm is 225km

I'm going to go out with Mr Z32 velocity stacks next time what that does to it.

I'll help tune them up for you... I start working on the first set of carbon fibre ones tomorrow (when they are finished you can try my pair from my bike, fuller lip (call it a collagen injection for the DVS' if you wil) to stop cavitation effects)

I also have an idea for getting you a little bit more clearance in the airbox in the mean time (before we start working on the new seriously big air box with variable length intakes).

I will have to wait until next year to get my SD on the drag strip, good to have a target to aim for

The old TLs on the right has done a best of 10.65 @ 132.6 mph, 1.69 60ft :P

10.60's are quick for a street bike...

With the duke the more i kept the front down the faster i went... i did a 11.2 with the front in the air through second...

I only hit full throttle at the end of second... i think a shift light would have done a world of good too...

We have a sprint here with an s bend in the middle! I lent my bike to Fast Bikes Magazine last weekend to do it. He was going cautiously but I think he did a 11.35 or something. Slightly damp.

10 years spent building and drag racing Yamaha RD250/350/400s helps a lot getting good 1/4 mile times

Keeping the front down is real important, get as much of your body weight over the front, try not to put any weight through the seat, push down on the pegs with your feet all your upper body weight through the bars, kinda like doing a press up
With the TLs I launch at 4500rpm short shift into second at 8500rpm, tuck in tight and power shift through to 4th crossing the line,
Full throttle but not redlining in each gear, you need to drop onto peak torque with each gear change for the best time/terminal speed,
The launch is the most important thing for really quick times 1.6 second 60ft times are possible on street tyres, reaction time with a pro tree you need to get below 0.500 sec
My basically standard 98 R1 ran a 10.42 @ 139mph, 1.62sec 60ft, 0.426 reaction time, IL4s are easy :P

How many runs did you do with the SD :?:
Was there much variation in terminal speeds between your quick time and the slower runs :?:

4 runs

11.1 @ 120mph
11.2 launched at 7000rpm and looked at the sky
11.5 with a missed gear... I blame the quick shifter
10.8 @ 129mph

rode home with a grin on my face after the 10.8 thinking how to get the time down

2006 KTM 990 super duke
Race tek quick-shifter set at .060 sec
My Custom breather system (see thread "breathe baby breathe")

Metzler Mr2 Racetek tyres
Moto hooligan air box
secondary flies removed
SAS system removed
O2 eliminators
Leo Vince slip on mufflers
Scotts steering dampner
pro-tapper bars
Custom quick Action throttle
Lucas oil and stabalizer

Im sure ive missed something

Thanks for the details..... I have this problem with an over enquiring mind

I will get back on the strip with the SD in the Spring time, would be good if us UK guys could organize an SD meet at Santa Pod, drag racing is just as much fun as a track day and gets real competitive if there is a group, you get to keep your timing slips to :!:

Could turn it into an international SD Forum challenge UK v USA v Aus for the fastest 1/4 mile SD/SDR

Just a thought

Yep rules, number on the bike not the riders back, number must match the time slip, photo of bike and rider with time slip in hand taken on the same day,

I dont think anyone on here would try to cheat anyway

A claimed 9 second pass would be an obvious cheat, but I would not be suprised if someone got below 10.5

I'll join in but our 1/4 isn't straight. :?

videos are from an event where I managed 11.35 quite a while ago, the 05 only had cans and map on it.

Missed a few events due to an accident but the new bike is much quicker, did a 11.26 after shutting right off from running REALLY wide and then we were rained off. Can get into the 10s easy next year
