My dad : Aged 76, a great man.

Today my old boy lost his battle with cancer and died peacfully after a thankfully short time of being totally out of it.

A stroke when on holiday 3 months back was the first step, which progressed into multiple brain tumors. We had 6 weeks with him back at home and had great times, spent a good chunk of time together recently and set the world to rights.
Last week he went downhill and was taken back in hospital. He died today with my mum at his bedside and peacfully.

He taught me respect, character and what it means to really be a man, and a gentleman.

A sad day in the Weeksy household.. but i'll remeber him with pride.

Rip Derek.

Sorry for your loss dude. Sounds like he had a good family around him and I guess you can't ask for much more than that. RIP.

My condolences weeksy.

My dad dies a long time ago but he's never far from my mind. He also taught me so much as I was growing up. He wasn't perfect and I spent a lot of years trying not to be like him but as I've got older I realise that I have turned into him in many ways.

He'll live on in you for as long as you keep on going.

Indeed it is. Without him i wouldn't be a fine upstanding guy. Coming from where i do and some of the paths i was walking... i'd be spending a few years inside a 9x8 cell if it wasn't for him.

When you come into SD.net look for the button on the right hand side
"View posts since last visit" that way you get to see all post since you were last in. Best button ever!

Sorry so late after it's been posted, but I have not been in this thread before.

Thanks guys,

I suppose i better add a little bit to the thread.

My mum is doing way better than we ever expected, this has pushed her to her limits and she's getting out the other side. She's bought a mobility scooter (she'd never have done that) and is discovering freedom for herself that she'd have only had before with her hubby.
She's also had to discover strength of character without him, whihc she's done a greatjob of.

More importantly, this has brought me and mum closer together in a lot of ways, i now call her 3-4 times a week instead of once, although we're not the sort that spend hours on the phone.. just a quicky really. She's also seen more of her grandson than previously... In some ways you could argue, "bit late"... LOL.. i could agree... but it's not too late as both me and my mum are appreciating it all lots.

I'm going to lock the thread now as the update pretty much completes it all.

Thanks again boys.
