I wonder if Edwards will race again. He is a hard man but running over a friend is something else altogether. Not his fault obviously but some things are hard to get out of your head.

From what I saw I think he would have been killed instantly so at least he didn't suffer. I wonder is helmet chin straps are made to fail at a critical load. Thinking about it the strap needs to be the weaker link when compared to the neck!

RIP and thanks for the thrills along the way.

there is a very graphic high res slow mo video, shot from the back (very hard to watch), in the aftermath when Colin is getting to his feet, Marco's helmet goes rolling by and it looks like the strap is unfastened.
i feel so bad for Colin too, most of the focus is on Marco, as it should be, but Edwards took a huge beating as well, and i cant believe Rossi stayed on his bike! just a horrible and sad, sad day.

This is beyond words. I'm still devastated and in shock. Talking with him at Laguna Seca is stuck in my head, and I unable to process. RIP Marco, you will be missed!

Marco Simoncelli 1987-2011 RIP

Postby arashi » Mon Oct 24, 2011 10:46 pm

Marco Simoncelli aka Super Sic lost his life yesterday on the 2nd lap of the Malaysian GP at Sepang. He was a rising star in MotoGP and was taken away from us too early. Race In Peace #58 you will be missed by all your family, friends and fans!

Fantastic vid. What an amazing rider. He pulled off some breathtaking overtakes and just wouldn't accept he was beaten. Yeah he crashed a few times but he added something MotoGP was lacking. The world has been robbed of years of an exciting racer.

I can't believe Dorna made YouTube pull videos of tributes for copyright reasons      That is just fooked up man. There were some amazing vids and the above was one of them. Shame on you!

RIP Marco. MotoGP just isn't the same without you :( :( :(

Amen, tomorrow will be somber while watching the race. Instead of a moment of silence though, all the riders should line up for a group wheelie across the line.
