yay, we got our own section!

Postby blb » Thu Feb 16, 2012 11:45 am

Thanks to the moderators, us RC8 owners have a place to stay!

Finally we don't have to put up with all the piss taking on ktmforum.co.uk

As most of the owners of rc8's on here also own or have owned Superdukes it will be a great little corner of Superduke.net I believe.

Only ever stalled once.... Same as the SD really.

Disable the O2's and it will get rid of the surging and run better down low.

Mine has stalled a few times in the past, once leading to an accident at Cadwell

Seems better now though? The SD boys want our velocity stacks cos they add more midrange to their bikes apparently.

Testing and fiddling with tuneecu starts in a week or so :P

Linga means any throttle trumpets for his SD as its come to light that it gives us some extra power.

Let me know how you get on.. Are you going to get a custom map, or just disable the O2's on the stock map, try someone elses map? Do you know if Crescent will work with Tune-ecu? I contacted them last year about it and they didn't have a clue. Think most tuning houses like to use Powercommander.

Kev at Projex is your man. Great guy and fully up tp speed with TuneECU. Did a custom map on my 09 RC8R. Great job. Worth a ride up to Birmingham.

Hi Boysie,

I have already turned off the 02's with tuneecu. Have tried a few maps, Boneheads and adams map off ktmforum. I also have another one to try but currently I'm on a bone stock 09 map. Mines got a dna filter and thats it. When I get the bike home at the end of the month i can start experimenting. First thing is to fiddle with the F-L switch to see if I can switch it to throttle based mapping instead of manifold pressure. Seems that the R has less stalling issues so I'm going to copy its F-L values on to mine and see how that goes.

After that Kev can custom map mine.

Crescent don't work tuneecu, they run my bike up on the dyno to checkout my stalling with no issues. Like Cerec says though Kev at projex works with tuneecu as does hm racing.

Yup certainly am. Currently bog stock apart from Quat-D zorst with cats left in. Mine only stalls when under 65C on the dash. I'm hoping to fix this with a PCV, which is being installed and tuned a week tomorrow. Will let you all know how I get on....

Maybe I'm lucky I have never had it stall only in the morning when I start it.It shuts off then I just restart and it warms up fine.
I have a FMF and a remap runs fast as hell. Changed the stock gearing. Took a tooth off the counter shaft sprockit makes a huge differance I can use 3rd gear now! I have a rear that has 2 extra I might try if it is still too tall on the track.I will see in April.I know if I put that rear on it wiil be tough to keep the front end down.

Now this forum got his own RC8 area, gonna drop by more often.

cheers

Yeah, Welcome in Fred!

Got fed up with the idiots on ktmforum so we started a section here, MUCH better guys on here who actually care and don't take the piss out of our issues with the bikes. You won't catch me on ktmforum ever again.

Anyway mine is all good now after its dyno work starting to love it, just got to get the track time up on her!

Glad you didn't gave up on the ol'RC8.
Yea sometimes the comments weren't nice, but I tried to cope with it.
Got some things fixed with the help of some guys overthere.
I understand your problems, maybe becuz of the distance i don't mind at all, never gonna meet any of them I think?
But trackday world is small, specially in the UK, overhere I also meet the same people all over again.

Btw my next trackday is Spa Francorchamps, would have liked to put some more before but when I wanted to suscribe most of them where sold out overhere. We only got 3 tracks here, Francorchamps, Mettet,Zolder.
Then there are some in the north of France, Lezennes,Croix,Ecuyers
Assen is 300km from my place.

Brands Hatch is closer :-)
