New RC8R Track only California

Postby Linga » Fri Sep 07, 2012 3:30 am

Hi guys,

Was on the phone today and a mate at KTM may have a new RC8R track bike coming up really cheap.
Is anyone here keen on racing or doing only trackdays?
This really needs to be raced though.
Give me a yell and I'll let him know if anyone is interested.
I thought about bringing it to Oz but the tracks here are that small that the SDR is only a little behind the I4's.
Although... A B bike.... 8)

I've been having a sniff about RC8's recently myself.

Even though the Track has the Superstock tune on ot I think its still on the old motor which makes less power than the new twin spark. Can anyone confirm if that's the case?

Is this an RC8R RS ("Race Spec")?

Care to PM me your friend's contact information (and maybe the asking price)?

Thanks.

It's all yours then ... assuming you actually PMd him first ... ;) Maybe its all a hoax.

Seriously, I don't do bidding wars with anyone, ever. Bikes are like Doritos: They'll make more. I'm not "Anti-I4" either.

Not interested in bidding war either. If bike is new and legit I'm keen.

Finding one is easy. Maybe this one at Tri-Valley (in Livermore) is the same one (?).

Finding one where the stealer doesn't want some idiotic price (gouged) for one, is another matter. There's a very limited market for expensive bikes here, that can never be registered.

Regardless, its all John's. 8)

It's unfortunate that as soon as there is interest the posts change.
It was just an informal chat but 14k was thrown about.
I was hoping to get someone a good deal on a brand new bike... Sorry fellas

No worries Linga...I had a feeling they would play it like that.

Would have been worth it to me at $14K (bit of a stretch for a bike I cannot ride on the road but doable), but $17K....can't justify it.

I can get one for less than $17K ... not enough less to interest me. $14K, I can see going there - but not $17K (presumably before tax).

Superlative bike, but there will always be some significant costs beyond (e.g. suspension setup, tuning, TC?, etc.) the bike's purchase. It is a very appealing product for me, as I would only use any superbike at the track.

Hey guys Being an owner of a 2011 RC8R I can tell you a few things .The track only bike uses the 09-10 motor ,The twin spark is foe smog only .KTM races that motor .All the hop up kits are for them. You can get more HP from that motor than the new one.
Soon KTM will make the twin spark better. but right now you can fet more hp from that bike .It comes with better stuff. The 2011 is a great bike no fuel issue runs great.

Just KTM wanted to lower the price so they went back to cast wheels and did not coat the forks .To be honest the 2010R or 09 comes with better stuff The forged wheels alone. I put the 10 wheels on my 11 it looks great with black wheels instead of orange.
The 11 comes with better street riding and no fuel problems and you can get many maps from KTM and tune ecu .

The track bike come with everything you need to race. and you can get the super bike kit that makes it a monster but you will have to run race gas only. The down side of the RC8R no matter what you do you will never get the HP numbers that BMW of the ZX10 the top end is down so on tracks that have long straights you will get passed.

This is why I like tracks that you don't have to go 200 mph.On a track like Chuckwalla the bike shines I pass 15 riders at a time because the low end is so good and the bike is so quick.Plus it handles It is so easy to go fast with this bike.Once you ride it or one that has the mods you will see how great the bike is.In the corners it is so good the front end is planted and you can fly I pass on the outside all the time because it is that good. I will be at Chuckwalla Nov 9 so you duke guys come on out and have some fun.

Most of the time I am the only RC8R you can hear me nothing else sounds like it or looks like so stop by and say hi
I had a duke I loved it I just needed the power plus the riding position is the best of any sport bike out there.I have a real bad back
lots of metal and I can ride it all day with no pain.I wish I could post my last track day on you tube I just dont know how.
If you want to see it it's chriscrash488 chuckwalla 10/19/12 it's a cool video check it out
