Hello! New rc8 owner. Anyone local?

Postby Jenky rc8 » Sat Nov 23, 2013 4:14 pm

Had my bike around 5 months and been trying to find a good forum to join since. Got sick of waiting for ktm forum.co.uk to activate my account so had another look and found here.

Anyway bought a standard 09 rc8 put some shiny bits on it and a dominator endcan.

Had it on the dyno today and was chuffed with the result but I'm wanting to flash map on the ecu with tune ecu and been baffled enough to not even dare try incase I mess up my bike.
If there's anyone anywhere near Darlington in the northeast of the uk who knows how to and willing to do it please help me lol

God help you my child..

Seriously welcome in buddy, there are a few here with 8's. Mines in pieces after blowing its guts out so if you need anything then let me know. I have a few vital bits that could save your engine too...

Tuneecu is easy when you know how but don't mess until you have read the manual thoroughly. Whatever you do, make sure you have the correct oil and definitely don't raise the rev limit!

If you need anything then let me know.
Racing is life, everything else before and after is just waiting.

Ran my 2009 RC8R with no problems other than rock hard ride from the pretty crap stock WP suspension.
Fitted full Ohlins and transformed the bike.
Bike has now as good as sold but suspension is up for sale soon if you are interested.

Enjoy the bike, it's a great motor and comfy as you like over distance. Rode to Brno and back on my 2008 model with no issues at all.

No matey I have no intention of pushing its limits!
I want it the best it can be but want it running the best rather then being power crazy.

Only things I'm after are black kick stand and black pillion pegs!
Can do a deal on silver ones lol

Ha ha, good spot! That was day before yesterday when I just finished putting the 2012 rear end on her.

Had to wait for my rivet link to arrive.

How are you finding the dominator exhaust? I've just got an 09 R, and was considering getting one with my Chrimbo money. How noisy is it compared to standard?

TuneEcu will work without any problem and is one of the best things to make a crap mapped 2008-2009 factory RC8 rise above its level.
Just have a look upon tuneecu site, there's an answer for everything & then some more

http://www.tuneecu.com/

it will take some time to have the parts U need scraped together, that B6PA-ecu connector aint' that easy to get hands on, I've ordered several a few years ago & have sold them all to people who where also searching for it.
That VAG-KKL is easy to find via fleabay
...It wil cost U 'bout 50-60€ to make a cable Urself and 120€ via ebay
