Power commander wanted!

Postby Jenky rc8 » Wed Feb 12, 2014 6:36 pm

I bought the tune ecu lead for my rc8 but sadly no matter how much I try I carnt get the soft wear to work so I've decided just to get a PC5

Is it possible to turn off the SAS and O2 sensors with the PC?

Can you upload a map onto the PC without it being on the bike, so a computer idiot like me can just buy one and plug it in and use the bike?

I have fitted a Rottweiler air ram system and as recommended removed the sas system completely which was a nightmare to do. Now I carnt use my bike as I carnt turn it off on the ecu as I'm useless :-(

No. Usually include in the kit however are plugs to null the function of the 02 sensors.

Yes.

Sheesh, you aren't useless - but maybe worthwhile to find someone in your area to help you with TuneECU, AND/OR, put back the part (or at least, reconnect it) of the SAS that the ECU actuates, until you get can turn off the SAS control at the ECU. The SAS control is stupid that way. :D

Thanks for the reply.
I have found a SAS eliminator plug on eBay so I've purchased that to allow me to ride the bike somewhere for help :-)

Sadly I do not know anyone around here to help with the tune ecu :-(
I tried to join other ktm sites to ask for help but uk ktm site won't let me join.

Before you take the plunge, about the tuneecu issues.
What computer did you use and is it using windows 98, vista, 7 or 8?
Try to explain in a few short lines what doesn't work and what you tried.
We see if we can get you going. You don't necesarry need a tueecu specialist but a local computer geek teenager can probably fix the issue. Any family members or friends who fit the picture?
If you have a jerky RC8 following things will help. (most of it you are trying to do anyway)
Switching off O2 sensors, removing SAS, better or custom map.
Just bolting on a PCV with a random map might not be the answer to your problems.
If you don't do anything stupid when young, you have nothing to smile about when old!

Windows 8.1 and the blue tune ecu (is it a ODB 2 cable?) will auto install all the correct drivers and work properly even for a computer illiterate monkey like me...... So if you can get 8.1 on your comp it may well remove any driver issues you are suffering..... I had no end of problems and no joy and as soon as I upgraded it connected automatically.....

... the update to 8.1 was free on my POS windows laptop (My Mac is just too full to run windows as well!) - might be worth checking to see if his can be updated for free.....?

The "update" to 8.1 is "free" to anyone with a legit license of Windows 8.
