thats because you get stiction between the tapered faces - this is always the case when undoing anything with a mating taper.The wider the tapered surface the more stiction.
I little molly grease on both the thread (to stop binding) and a little on the taper of the nut will help everything seat down properly and also transfer the correct torque figure to the assembly without too much influence from stiction.

I thought Striction was when two mating surfaces stuck together... You know, like when your bellies stick together with the sweat :lol:
