How easy is it to change the 1290 rear brake lever?

Postby Plake » Mon Jul 11, 2016 8:57 pm

Managed to bend mine by leaning too far on a 5th gear rear wheel steered right turn*

*Drove off with the disc lock on last month

Looks like there's a circular spring attached to the heel of the lever. Is the lever something that I can easily change myself? I'm slightly better than barely mechanically competent but prone to compound disasters.

You bent the lever from it hitting the ground cornering?

Changing to another stock lever is an easy 2 min job, what lever are you using to replace it?

Will be a stock lever body, just not clear how the spring attaches to it or if any other parts will be needed. And no, it wasn't cornering

2 bolts, one to hold the lever, one attaches the brake master. Spring attachment is nothing fancy, quite simple really. Take it apart and you will see.
