jman, i am in limbo, love the motor and its very addictive but do not like the finish (plus other details) and with people offering what i had paid it has me thinking of selling, trouble is that motor is so enjoyable i keep looking at exhausts!!!!!!!

when i clean it i think what will it look like in a couple of years?? not like an expensive bike......

my wheelies have been always ok but now they look like i an expert when im not hahahahahaa

also i am riding with all the electronics off and that angers me as it is something you pay for and i am not using
make mine a ktm

Well ive just got the front carbon mudguard from firefoxx and boy its sexy..
also just brought the ackra end can as I can't wait for ktm to get thier ass into gear, also have to wait till july.
Dont think so!
Well also managed to take out the baffle with ease. Just an m6 alankey with hole in the middle, lucky im a mechanic and have that tool.
it sounds so much better and deeper without the baffle. Now ill just wait for BOS exhaust to bring out the link pipe!

How nice does that pic look. I will have my DB killer out today and very keen to hear it as with it in it seems a bit quite.

I had the time to take out my DB killer today and it wasn't straight forward as I have known it to be in the past. It seems that the DB killer is held in with a tamper proof screw. It must be set up to ensure that it is not removed it seems.

Here is a photo of the tamper proof screw. To remove the DB killer it is best to remove the can from the bike.

I didn't really have a tool that could remove it easily so I used an old (and cheap) trick that I saw somewhere before and took a cheap 8mm socket as it is the only one that can fit in through the hole in the Carbon and cut some slots into it. This allowed the socket to flex and bit and also grip the screw. Once I did this is came our easy.

Now the sound is a bit better and about 93 DB's according to my primitive measuring tool. My iPhone. It was 82 DB's with the killer in. I also noticed on the paperwork that come with the can that it was measured at 80 DB's and this complies with some euro standard. Lucky we live is Oz. Now just have to watch out for the traffic guys with the DB measuring equipment.

Once the CAT is gone it will be in the triple figures

I like the level with the baffle out, it's loud enough but I think it's not too loud to get done.
Also it's good on long rides without getting on your tit's

Yep I agree, 90 odd DB's is good. At least you can hear it.

My 990SMT was much louder with wings cans as the cat was gone. Also the induction raw was awesome when you cracked it open. So I guess I was missing that with the duke. A nice note from the can is all part of the joy of riding IMO. :D

Nice job on the baffle removal :) I tried to mod a socket but I butchered it...
So I bought the Irwin tool which cost the place I work money ;)

The 1290 with velocity stacks and CAT delete... will sound like the jet engine sucking off your face

I reckon the Akra slip-on will sound good with the cat removal.

My Hyper had the full system with velocity stacks and the induction noise was awesome
I was pulled over a couple of times with that bike and the cops never mentioned the noise, Vtwins rock

I don't mind being pulled over, it is the donations to the government that piss me off :(

I used a Grabit Pro & drilled the screw out, easy enough to do. But the original screw is a bit mangled so I bought a M6 x 15 allen head stainless bolt & cut it down to length in case I ever need to put baffle back in. Which I doubt since it sounds so freaking awesome with it out :D

I'm gonna make you guys a video on how to remove and then get the little grub screw back in quick as a jiffy and easy as pie!

Don't make the simple complicated. If I forget and someone really wants to know PM me tomorrow. Ill upload to YouTube.

The dealer flashes a map for the full Akra.

No, I mean for the slip on with DB Killer removed (and maybe De-cat) are you running the standard fuel map for these mods?

Hey Coach,

No remap for the slip-on with or without baffle is required.

Yeah with the CAT removed, slip-on, hiflow filter and SAS removal you could get the KTM Akra map at your dealer.

In Oz the 1290's are rich and you can go straight to a DNA filter without a remap.

Kevxtx has been experimenting on a dyno with DNA filters
