Blown seal...any reputable suspension shop should be able to repair it for you.

Good luck.

Yeah it's broken, good that you noticed it. My super duke is under 2 years old and i think suspension should last more than that. I can not be the only one with this problem. Are these WP-shock absorbers so bad quality that they can't stand -20 degrees celsius? Yeah i have my bike in cold garage because i don't have better storage at this time. I never imagined that monoshock would fail first. :o

What dirt bike is that? lol

Looks to me to be more of a dirt issue ruining the seal rather than the temperature or the quality of the shock

Keep it off the dirt, buy a neoprene or similar shock cover or buy an adventure bike maybe?

Well if it's dirty in one picture does it mean it's dirty always? Well KTM is fixing it under warranty and maybe i will buy that neoprene cover to please you guys. Hah, this is hilarious.

Leaving the shock sock on for 2 years wont help, What did you expect.... living in a "Kent" of a wet miserable place would not help, neoprene will hold moisture inside so some preventative maintenance would be needed, I wouldnt just leave it on there, could just run it in crappy rainy conditions or if you know you might happen to be riding on some dirt here n there, should always take it off & clean after a ride anyway

Maybe a rear tyre hugger extender of some kind might be a better option, either way the dirt n mud will cause a problem with a shock that is not designed for off road stuff

Don't put a Johnny on your shock, just on your cock ( if needed  )

Regularly removed, etc - shock seemed fine until last, admittedly, very wet eight week period.

+1 for the fender extender, plan to have for both, front and rear... Front one seems to be found (for at least 1290 SA) but rear it maybe has to be experimental try/error case... :D

Now! I have something going on! Maybe something to tell about in a few weeks... But first shall see how it works! Shall report about how things go in proper time!

Just fender and hugger extenders - have been in contact (about hugger extenders) with people (Pyramid Plastics, UK) who luckily were in state of designing a hugger extender for the SDR 1290 and now I will see what happens... Then have to try assembling those and see how they work... But first have to wait a few weeks or maybe couple of months... There is also a headlight cover in the same order so...

Just welding now a rack for the small duke 690 screen (viewtopic.php?f=29&t=23413&start=150 ) - found the schema there but seems it doesn't look - now when I have had my hands in it - like that at all... Well, I just had an old bicycle cargo rack and from it suitable tube with 1mm wall, then some other scrap and junk so it looks very different, absolutely home-made now! Surprisingly not so bad (I have no equipment to hold parts in place and do precision work nor the ability... just a welding machine and yard with some cover). For me it's no showbike, just a ride-bike...

At least I remember now that work is not all joy, it's pain too!
Each day I try to live for me.
