Hi everybody - just a quick hello , picked up a 2007 SD a couple of weeks ago and barring the pissing rain and the couple of irritating faults I'm enjoying the few rides I've had. It's not my first big twin (I had a Cagiva V-Raptor for a couple of years) but it's definately the snappiest.

It's an ex forum members bike (owned by sam46 till last November) but I think it's in need of a bit of TLC (snapped chain adjuster, oil leak from where the oil pipes go into the crankcases, snapped off bolt on the water pump housing, possible warped discs, broken horn, external temp gauge that thinks it's -271). Ah well i've got a warm garage with a beer fridge so best crack on

Welcome aboard Ian, I see you're "enjoying" God's county at the moment, but at least you have a few little jobs to occupy you until the sun returns... if it ever does...

Welcome aboard comrade. All of those things are just minor irritations - far outweighed by the joy of riding these things.

No rim tape (as of yet) it's done about 17k and it looks like the suns coming out. I've sorted a few of the little jobs, I'm a bit concerned about the oil leak, it looks like one of the two oil feed pipes that go into the sump has a leak. Looking at the manual it appears there are 2 o-rings, do I just undo the bolts holding the retainer plate, pull the pipes out replace the o-rings and bolt it back on or do I need to drop all the oil
