Hello from The Netherlands

Postby 1290R-Tom » Thu Jun 30, 2016 7:41 am

Hi Guys,

Just bought a black '16 SDR, brand new will be shipped out of the factory in Austria today. hopefully pickup is 09/7. Dealer told me it's one of the last black 16 models, since the facelifted '17 is coming up.

Mods now:
- TomTom Rider 410 Great Rides
- Arrow Race-Tech titanium slip-on

Coming up:
- Arrow midpipe / K&N Filter / SAS kit / Akra map if I can find a dealer willing to load it (dealers here aren't used to compared to the USA)
- short license plate holder
- PP Ergo seat

Any mods I forgot but is a must have?

Have been riding a BMW S1000RR 2010 (205 HP) for the last 4.5 years but wanted something more easy to ride, only got fun on the bike wen I went to the track or Luxemburg/Germany with the twisties but I don't get there every weekend as it is a 1.200 km drive for the whole weekend.

I hope this bike brings back the fun in driving around in my own area :)

Loved it, in fact went there twice ;) First time was for Kings day.
I was in Bristol for work, then went to Amsterdam for 3 days, then Cologne, Paris, Montpelier and Marseille. Then came back to Amsterdam before going back to London.
While I was there the second time, a bystander got shot dead in his car at one of the main intersections during a drug shootout there one night. Also big signs about dangerous Cocaine everywhere too.
I didn't see any trouble myself though and everyone I met were friendly.
And when in Rome, do as the Romans do !

Nice trip! Kingsday is always nice in Amsterdam.
You should also visit Rotterdam once, personally I love it more than Amsterdam.

Yeah there is still a big drugs war going on here, Dutch and Belgian customs already intercepted thousands and thousands of KG's of that sh*t.

The cocaine signs you saw was actually white heroine, sold as cocaine. Bunch of tourists died :?

We took a 10hr bus trip (hey it was cheap) from London and passed through Ghent, Antwerp and Rotterdam before reaching Amsterdam.
The sun came up just as we hit Rotterdam and it looked great (just like your photo) but we didn't stop for more than 10 mins to offload some passengers.
Perhaps next time ;) But have Canada and Bali to do next.

Sounds good, I like Canada. Visited in 2010 (just a tiny bit, did a road trip and came across Quebec, Montreal and Niagara Falls)

Will be visiting Florida in 5 weeks, never been to that part, really looking forward :D

Coming to FL during the hottest part of the year huh? Get ready to sweat my friend. :)

At least the roads will be less busy that during season. That's what we say to avoid thinking about how hot it is.

Hmm, common sense will get you a long way.
Don't wear any jewelry
Don't drink in excess
Don't have an oversized camera hanging from your neck
Don't go into a Disney lake in the evenings
Don't stop to ask for directions in bad neighborhoods
Don't try to buy drugs in bad neighborhoods.
Do I sound like your mom yet?

Welcome! Sounds like you'll have some fun with the new bike. It might not be as crisp all over as the Bimmer but still good fun and performance in a different way.

Got it delivered last Saturday. Did 400 kms on the bike already and it is AWESOME! Really like the Arrow exhaust and the sound of it (with cat/no DB killer) Makes me wonder if a midpipe and race filter isn't to loud? Thoughts?

I can't get the picture in the message so here is the link

Thanks!

Yeah I know them, friend of mine tuned his gsxr there.

At the next service I will check if the dealer is willing to load the akra map, otherwise I will get it on the dyno in Goes or Tiel (PowerPoint)

Ride safe!
