Traded my speed triple for a new Black 2015 1290 SDR in march this year and so far added power parts seat, K&N filter, bodis decat and the promo Akra slip on. Bike really growls without the cat on it, next upgrade will be the airbox and hopefully that will lean out the akra map a little as the popping on decel now has neighbors diving into bushes for cover. 7200 miles and all good.

The popping is caused by the SAS and is probably best removed when you get a suitable filter.
This will eliminate the popping entirely.
Most do a removal kit.

The second best things are really expensive.

Wellcome Steve59, I've also just joined this forum, i remember chatting with you on the TuonoV4 forum, and as said above, get the SAS block of plates done, then your 1290R won't do the type of back fire on closed throttle. PS, some of them dislike me on the Tuono thread forum, as i stand up for the 1290, and tell them its a better street bike :D :D -and it is.

Hey dave I like seeing you sayin it the way it is over there. I still haven't taken a v4 for a ride and now that i'm having so much fun on my SDR I don't see a need to. Appreciate the heads up to eliminate the popping and the airbox mod and sas block off plates are next. We hit 80f here today and the humidity was down, whew, what a ride!
Thanks for the welcome I have a lot of reading to do.
