Removing Power Commander on SD 990??

Postby mattgalic » Sat Jul 01, 2017 4:45 am

Just bought a 06 990 SD with a Power Commander installed

I'm not fan of powering my bikes then I would like to proceed to its removal.
Can I unplug it and come back to initial map?

Or do I reinit system before?

Thanks

Power commanders leave the ECU Map as is and adapts the signals on route to the injectors.

You need to check to see if there are any additional modifications such as deleting or bypassing the O2 sensors.

If it has been installed and set up correctly then there is no reason to remove it. It will have smoothed out the jerky throttle response and set the correct A/F ratio throughout the rev range.

Many of us have done that without a PC (3?) but if it's there and a custom map is installed then just leave it and enjoy it.
