from memory - check the plugs in behind the headlight, if you stand looking at the front of the bike, i seem to remember the plugs on the left hand side - possibly the middle one - came loose on mine and shut down the speedo as you describe.

If in doubt..... wiggle them all!

Tried wiggling all the plugs, even gave everywhere a copious spray of GT85, checked all fuse, unplugged them all and there was no corrosion.

At a loss now, the orange back light works the little red flashing light is also working when the bike is turned on before the key fob is activated for the immobiliser/alarm but the needle doesnt sweep, the display does not come on and none of the other idiot lights work

HELP PLEASE, just bought a new 1290GT and want this working as I am looking at selling the bikes

Only thing that worked for me was a new dash unfortunately.
But some had success with opening it up and cleaning the print and connector.

A few years ago my bud's 990 ADV had wiring problems with the ignition.

Turn the bars and things did not work correctly.

It was a bad wire that broke inside the plastic wire cover and was only detected by feeling the break and noticing a slight bulge on the wire.

Not sure if KTM used flex wire on their builds.

Search the wire loom and pay attention to the wires that move when the front forks rotate.

Pay special attention to the wires that might not be long e-nuf and is put under stress.

That was the scenario of my buds misfortune, fixed while on a out of state trip with a borrowed solder gun.
