18 SDR stock setup handlebar position

Postby jgiachino » Thu Jun 07, 2018 10:21 pm

Found out today that I cant rotate the controls (buttons housing) on either side of the bars because they're pegged onto the handlebars (what dealer said)....mine are way to rotated forward / high....eg horn button is where I think turn signal button should be...makes using any of the buttons a non fluid motion

Obviously I can rotate the bars back - which I'm guessing I'll do...but out of curiosity:

1) Can anyone send a pic of their stock setting bar's with the hash marks so I can see the angle they should have been set at?
2) What bar position is stock? eg forward holes or rearward holes? What's preferred for non racing application?

Thanks, easy problem to have...

I rotated my left hand switch gear, it isn't pegged on my 17 version. The screw was bloody tight though.

Can't help you with a photo of stock position but you could do what loads of us have done when we have replaced the oem bars and that is to simply file down the plastic locators on the controls instead of drilling holes in new bars. Mine haven't moved over the last few years since doing it when i fitted Pro Taper bars. Regarding position i have them in the forward holes with the clamps spun in the rear bias. Personally i like that setup a lot more than original.

Must have been tired when i read your post as for some reason i read it as 13 sdr instead of 18, sorry. Still, I can only assume it will be similar.
