BEWARE limited warranty 1290 SDR

Postby Danish-Rider » Mon Jul 28, 2014 3:02 pm

I just got this letter from KTM because i wanted to fit the akrapovic Evo race system to my bike :

Hi Peter.

If you put an EVO1 system on your 1290 SD-R you have on engine damages 30 days (warranty).

This is an advanced system made for racing.

If they sell it then they should warranty it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That exhaust is in the KTM parts book...They try to get out of everything...

In that case they should give full akras away just to crawl out of the warranty pit...together with a carbon rear wheel and no warranty on the hub of its mounted

If this information is not listed in the user manuals or communicated at the point of purchase and documented on the invoice, etc they would have little to no chance of enforcing it.

Unfortunately they designed the system to be fitted to their bike as well and have even gone so far as to prevent anyone purchasing the system from anywhere other than KTM. If they wanted to make a change to warranty conditions they have had the opportunity.

Would be thrown out of court before it even started, I would think a good lawyer would make mince meat of that statement

+1

It also states that everyone who buys a akra system needs to donate $500 to KTMGUY's presidential campaign!
Obviously I made that up, same as the reply you had from KTM Scandinavia!

KTM provide a warranty? Could have fooled me.
