Insurance Randomness/Result!

Postby lobster » Mon Jun 22, 2015 4:12 pm

Been riding a CB1300 for a couple of years. Anyway, just got rid of it and bought a B-King. So gone from 108bhp/86ft lbs of torque, to 183bhp/108ft lbs of torque - almost twice the power.
The CB1300 cost me 155 quid to insure fully comp, so I was expecting to pay rather more for the B-King, but as it turns out, they wanted only 90 quid fully comp. I don't think I've paid so little to insure a bike ever, never mind a power station like the B-King. Dunno what algorithm they worked that out with, but they should use it more often.
Very surprised (pleasantly)!

It's some bikes classified as a sports bike or not and also if they appeal to thieves.

Here the same:
1290 Superduke $450 as not classified as a sports bike.
899 Paningale $800 + as it is a sportsbike....
Same rider full comprehensive etc...
Go figure yourself...

What insurance company do you use for the SDR. Mine charges $$$$$ in Texas. And where do you live.

Om top of low prices, I low sided and did about 300 in damages, but at the time thought it was more, and called it in. After the inspector told me how low the price was they offered me the option of pretending I never reported it, or using my one free accident to repair it. Great service, and they try and save you money too.
