What's the 690SM like ? Thinking of getting one as a change from my 990SD.

Mainly for commuting in busy London. It's a horrible 7 mile very low speed journey, the 990SD just doesn't get a chance to open up and mostly 2nd gear with short bursts of 3rd.

Yep 1998. Its all original. Chain, sprockets etc. Even rear fender left unmolested. The PO had spongy grips but they were replaced along with the tyres. I'm going to leave it as original as possible.

Thx for the compliment.

I picked up a 1993 V22 5 years ago. It was imported from the UK by a guy in the US military. He bought a Fischer KFZ stage I crate engine for it. Installed it and put Tyga's on it. Heat cycled 3x. From that point it sat in his dining room for years until he had to sell it due to divorce. I decided to go through it and make it as perfect as possible. I hope to have it completed by mid summer (been dragging my feet!). Here are a few pics. I assume you're on the UK RGV forum?

Day I picked it up and after powder coated frame.

Nice project.
You are right, I'm on the UK forum but pretty inactive. Love a 2 stroke. I've a small collection of RGVs. Rarely ride em but love the purity of such 'low tech'
Got a project of fitting an RG500 engine in a Ducati 848 chassis this year. Really want an up to date looking bike with a 500 2stroke engine. Engine has been rebuilt as stock spec at the mo. Carbs are a worry as there are a number of seized screws.
With luck the engine will be in its new chassis by May this year. Then the task is to fabricate an exhaust system to suit. I'm sure the project will run over time but I'm not in a rush. Just needs to be done properly.

Fookin photbucket has killed a lot of threads here, bloody shame.
As I appear to be a serial offender to this page here is the latest addition to the fleet.
2015 1290 Superadventure with 4000 km on the clock and most of the fruit. Bought it sight unseen in Melbourne and waiting to get it shipped.
So time to say goodbye to the Tiger.
It does look somewhat policeeee and those panniers are huge.

My other bike is a cheap commuter ('06 SV650). its actually a decent bike tbh. especially for $2.5k (41K on the Odo).
Easy and cheap maintenance and near perfect for lane filtering.

Cheers mate, only had it for about 18 months, picked it up locally here in Brisbane.

Te SV is a great bike, especially for commuting. There is a lot of fun to be had on sub $5k bikes and plenty of good bikes to choose from. $2.5k is a steal though, at that price you dont care about putting huge km's on it.
