Hey all!! Been a while since I been here and have the SD itch soooo bad it ain't funny, so here is what I need.
Is there a person here who really is the "Know it all" pardon the pun about the SD history? I have a line on a killer deal here in America that is like a once in a lifetime find.
Seems one of the big wigs at KTM years ago wanted to make a few SD for the Intermot (sp?) bike show and the story I get is they made 5 special built bikes for this. I found one of these supposed bikes here in the US and want someone to be able to see a few pics of this bike and really tell me what it is because I have NEVER seen anything like it on paper before. I have gone and inspected the bike and taken a bunch of pictures and would like to know what the real history behind this bike is, because if it is what I think it is and what is inside the engine cases I am gonna buy it for a investment and have some serious fun with it. I can E-mail pics to whomever would like to see and give me some info on the bike. I have pics of teh VIN and both sides and closeups of almost every angle of the bike. Someone here that could help me out with the history??
Please PM me and I will check back often as I know this won't last long.
HELP...... |

I have pics on my home computer and sent some of them to a member here to post for me as I cannot for the life of me figure out how to post pics on this site.....Thanks all!!
SuperDan, it looks nothing like the pics you posted, I have seen Rourke's bike inperson and it really looks like an abomination, Millar will hopefully post what I sent him. |

Here are the pics Terry sent over..
Here are a few I tood recently, at first the bike was not avail and the guy was going to keep it for his collection and now he has road it and it scared the shit out of him. He says he has never ridden a quicker revving or faster SD in his life and he has had quite a few. this one has a few rumors like a lightwieght crankshaft and Titanium rods/valvetrain and a bunch of other trick parts. It has a VIN # that I could decipher only so far and it looks to be a 2004 # and everything on the bike is in German/Duetch. The bike is exactly the way it was acquired from a European vendor and is looking to be a grey market bike. (import only and not technically allowed for import into the US), I am sure you all in EU have seen such bikes but we don't get to see this version ever,,,,,,
Thanks for the help!!
Terry

Of course it's faster than any superduke the USA has seen - it's a 05 bike! |

Looks like someone has taken good care of that SD.
If you can check that she hasn't seen the tarmac go for it. |

Can someone enlighten me on what exatcly is a n "05" bike other than the year? Not sure I am up to snuff on the years and what that means. Are the 05 bikes built to be mad fast or did they get the best internal stuff? |

The 05 ( and 06 ) were more aggressive bikes in their geometry and argueably their power.
Many people got scared by these bikes so KTM made a limp wristed gay version in 07 for these riders! |

So this bike like the 03 525SX bikes came from the factory with some serious balls and everyone who rode them went "HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIITE"??
So is this bike really nothing special or if I can pick it up for a great price it is one I should buy??......what you all think?
Is the nice stuff on this bike like the KTM rearsets and other bling just regular hard parts stuff or is there some stuff not yet seen before on this bike? I am realy wanting to buy this bike and take it home to my garage....... |

Is there anyone here who could give me a value in US dollars? I talked with the original importer today who first bough the bike and it has never been on the ground and never been at the track, it was made to look good and take to shows. In person this thing makes me drool and I get a wet spot in certain areas..............I want this bike. Seems it is a no brainer for me to pick it up and buy, as it is something I can always get a good return on my money, as I can pick up this one for a great price. |

Yep, like freestyler says it's an 05 bike that's had loads of bling chucked at it and some stickers added, there's a slight difference in the paint on the headlight cowl between 05 and 06 bikes, mines an 05 too.
It appears clean and tidy and the decent bling is worth a fair bit, I'm not keen on the stickers but that's just personal preference and that kind of thing can be removed, no idea whether the claims of it being used as a demo bike by KTM are true though and can't really tell you what price you should pay for it in US dollar as I've no idea what the going rate is but if it looks good in person and the price is one your happy with compared to other SDs for sale then go for it, I love my 05 and would never change it for any of the newer models unless they bring out something special in the future. |

I am just curious, but why is the vin # saying the bike is a 04 but you all say it is a 05? Were there no bikes built in 04 that were SD's? |

KTM released a few in 04 for the magazines/industry to test!
Looks like somebody has loved her and lookd after her tho!
Im interested to no what the litle gauge is on the throttle side attached to the brake fluid resevoir!?!?
There was another guy on here that had an 04 (hes since sold it) but that was the same, mint with bits of bling! altho his had quite high milage!
If you can get it for good dollar$$$ then id go for it as the early bikes are defo for the pros
Dunno about your market but here you can expect to pay anywhere between 4500 and 5500 pounds for a nice 05/06 bike! (so around 7-8000US $$$) |

It looks great apart from all that orange. Now if it were a black bike with all that bling it would be next level quick |

The left looks like a clock, and the right one seems to be a thermometer.
I agree that the bike has a lot of extras, the stickers can easily come off to give a cleaner look ( I also don't like them).
About the price I can't be of much help.
p.s- if you get it, you have bragging rights for having a 05' orange SD, the original and fastest ever ehehehe like mine off course |

i guess the question would be how much is the dude asking for it?
you can get brand new leftovers (with warranties) for a pretty good price from what i hear on this site. the bolt on stuff is cool to a point and if thats your thing then of course you have to factor that in, but they arent really make a huge diff performance wise, unless of course all the internal stuff you mentioned was actually done to the bike. do you have any verification of that? |

All that is ,is wen the bike was bilt , like mine is an 06 ,but was bilt Nov' 05 , its a bild date , they had to make them in 04 , to sell them in the new year , end of Feb' 05 lournch , you coud not just buy one then eather they were all orderd , there was one at the NEC bike show 04 ,and most that sat on it ,orderd one . |
