Changed rear Brake pads (old ones were down to about 1mm)
The new EBC pads took 1 month to arrive from the UK so it was getting close.

Drove through 70 miles of pi55in' rain. for bikes first service.( Also had an instrument update downloaded.).
Then drove back home in soaking clothes and enjoyed every second of it.
Even though it was still raining in parts I shifted the bike into "SPORT" mode.
3rd and 4th gears are awesome now.

After getting home. Had to clean bike, as it was well caked in crud.

Weather brightened up later so took the 690R out for a "Jook aboot".

Jeez! the 1290 is like this bike in manoeuvrability with 2 and a half times the power. Even the seat height's about the same. (Both are a tad high for me but I can live with that for now).

Roll on better weather.

Nothing super exciting, but I installed the Rottweiler fueling dongles yesterday. It sure did smooth out the throttle in the closed loop area, well worth doing.

Installed the PCV and quick shifter from Rottweiler performance. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet but it sounds smoother on start up and throttle response feels crisper, in the garage anyway.

got in my SW Motech Blaze bags and daypack tank bag. Should have time to mount them tomorrow, will get some pics after I get them installed.

last week I changed the oil, put in a new oil filter (this one has an extra hole in the end compared to the original one), installed the orange clutch springs, and also installed a 16 tooth OE front sprocket.

Then in 2007-2008/2009 the clocks we're updated:



Then in 2010+ (non-US bikes) were updated again (notice the radio buttons have become flat and the font change, they also fixed the misting issues):

Welp, I pushed the fork tubes down in the triples until they were flush then replaced my graphite exhaust gasket. This was the first time I changed the gasket by only removing the rear cylinder pipe instead of loosening the entire header assembly and it was soooooo much faster this time.

Going to dial back the rebound dampening by a few clicks and see how it feels tomorrow out on some high speed sweepers. I'll see about taking notes and dialing it in while out there but since I'll be with a group I doubt I'll have much time to hit the same corner over and over in order to get a good consistent feel for the changes.

Good to know the gasket can be replaced without removing the headers completely.
Just did mine a couple weeks ago, but I'll keep it in mind for the next time.
Anything to look out for when just removing the rear pipe?

This was mine a couple of weeks ago:

It's surprisingly easy. Just unbolt the small pipe, side the flange down the rotate the pipe towards the left side of the bike (clutch slave side) and wiggle it out.

When refitting just make sure to push the gasket as far up the shirt like as possible do you can use the bit of pipe sticking out the bottom to locate and center it into the header. Then rotate back into the correct orientation and bolt up.



By the way after pushing the forks through the triples ask my headshot went away. Didn't even need to touch the rebound.
